The Art Cottage in Winter Haven is celebrating its 22nd year in business, and it owes much of its success to following the trends in the top book by professionals, “The House and Garden Decoration” book.
In light of new trends, The Art Cottage has added three new artists in specialty art. They are Dr. Rocky Wells, creative photography; Susan Roth, muralist; and Garry Eldredge, stained glass engineer/designer.
Eldredge already is credited with his work at Eric Adamson CPA (where he worked), a colorful tarpon above the entry way; a citrus scene in the entrance of Fred’s Southern Kitchen; and an oval magnolia at Tabitha Hill’s Magnolia Tea Room.

Osuna bought his 1890 stone and brick house. After restoring the home to its original grandeur, he began to follow the natural hobby his grandfather had taught him – collecting art and eventually becoming an art dealer.
The “House and Garden” book tells us “most of the doors in the house were removed so that the 10 rooms can provide unobtrusive wall space for a possible 60 paintings. Because Osuna prefers to change out the paintings often, every painting is hung on brass chains, the house could be sold out and rehung from top to bottom in eight hours.”
Childs is an interior designer who is known for work that is elegant and formal but not forbidding.
I could not help but dream about an Osuna walking into the local gallery and “cleaning us out” with the purchase of 60 paintings. We can dream, can’t we?
Just when I thought about taking out the 1940s archways of our gallery, I read in the “House and Garden” helpful hints that arches tend to become somewhat fashionable and the best way to show off collectibles. The archway stays.
